Carmelo Maldonado Jr.

Kissimmee, FL. -- Carmelo "El Gallo"? Maldonado, 71, passed away on May 12, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family. Born July 31, 1946 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Carmelo Maldonado, Sr. and Angelina Roman. Carmelo leaves behind a rich legacy of kindness and helping others. He was admired, loved and respected by his family and friends. Carmelo married Angelina Rodriguez in1964 in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. For many years, pursued his passion as a carpenter, a job he loved and in which he expressed his creativity. Carmelo will be remembered as a family man. He was extremely proud and loving of his children. He will be remembered as a considerate man who thought of others. Carmelo loved music and singing. He will be remembered for his Spanish rendition of "Happy Birthday to you, my love"?, happily sung for his loved ones. Carmelo is preceded in death by his father, Carmelo Maldonado, Sr., his mother Angelina Roman, his two sisters, Gloria Correa, Minerva Soto, step-father, Israel Roman and grandson, Angel Maldonado, Sr. Carmelo is survived by his wife of 53 years, Angelina; his son Angelo and wife Maritza, son Luis and wife Brenda and his daughter, Ivelisse; his grandchildren Jarissa, Luis Jr., Luis Angel and Jean Luis Maldonado; his great-grandchildren, Angel Maldonado, Jr., Angelisse and Sean Maldonado; his nieces and nephews, Yvette and Maribel Correa, Angel and Jose Soto, Maria Jacob, Gary Matos, Lissette Santana, Rafael Ramos, Jr. and many cousins and friends. In honor of Carmelo's wishes, there are no visiting hours. The family will honor his memory with a Celebration of Life family gathering in late July. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all those who helped Carmelo during his recent illness; Dr. Mario Sobrino, his staff, Dr. Jorge Otoya, his staff and the beautiful, patient and compassionate staff of Cornerstone Hospice; Ivonne Rohena who was there for him always and whom he loved like a daughter.
