Deborah Kay Hahn

Deborah “Debbie” Kay Hahn Deborah went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 13, 2022, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on her father’s birthday, July 4th, 1968, while he was away serving his country in the United States Air Force. During her father’s military career, the family lived in many places in the Midwest, then settled in her mother’s hometown of Orlando, Florida. Deborah had many talents and excelled in academics. She graduated from UCF with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 1995. Early after graduation, Deborah became a school teacher and taught 7th grade science. Though she was an excellent teacher, she had not found her calling. Remembering her interest in forensics from her college days, she decided to chart a different course for her life. In 1999, she joined the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and became a Crime Laboratory Analyst for the Seized Drug Section. For over two decades, she worked for the department and rose to the rank of Crime Lab Analyst Supervisor, serving in that capacity until her death. She was very proud of the work she did and cared deeply about the job and those she worked with. Though her career was a very important part of her life, her greatest love was her family and friends. She was a selfless person and very giving of her time and talents. You never had to ask for her help, whether it was fixing things, organizing, giving advice, or helping her niece with her schoolwork, she would see your need and be there for you. She loved each of us without question or reservation. She had a passion for life and gave her all in everything she did. She loved to garden, decorate, cook and entertain. She was a doer and always stayed busy with a project. She was not afraid to stand up for what she believed in and lived her life with character and integrity. Deborah is greatly loved and missed by her mother, Elaine, her sisters, Laura and Becky, her brothers-in-law, Paul and Gary, her niece Katie, her best friend Patty, and her beloved dog Gracie. Those who knew her will remember her passion, tenacity, creativity, and depth of character. She will always live in our hearts. The family invites you to come to a service held in Deborah’s honor at Eastern Avenue Baptist Church on Friday, March 25, 2022. The church is located at 1001 Eastern Ave., Saint Cloud, FL 34771. Family and friends visitation is at 12 pm and the funeral service will be held at 1pm.
