Sarah Jane Dixon

Sarah Jane Dixon, 83, of Kissimmee Florida died on March 10, 2022, at a local hospital. She had battled with a recent illness. Sarah Jane was born on December 3, 1938, to Charlotte Mae Buchheit. Her stepfather, Frank George Buchheit. Sarah Jane graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in 1956 and then went to graduate college from the University of Syracuse. She graduated with a degree in education and teaching became her lifelong passion. She married William B. Dixon in 1966 in Pittsburgh. They had two children who survive, Daniel B. Dixon (Lisa) of Hillsborough, NJ and Deborah G. Dixon of New Symrna Beach, FL. Sarah Jane was predeceased in death by her parents, her younger brother, Frank Buchheit Jr. and her younger sister, Estelle Ann Gearhart. Two grandchildren also survive Sarah Jane: Ryan Dixon and William Dixon both of Hillsborough, NJ. Sarah Jane was a devoted to her faith throughout her life challenges. Her family was very meaningful to her, and she especially enjoyed being with family at Walt Disney World. Sarah Jane was a magnificent teacher. She started her career teaching English at Mt. Lebanon High School, PA. She then moved on to teach at Johnsonville High School in Myrtle Beach South Carolina and finished her career at Gateway High School in Kissimmee in Florida. Sarah Jane received numerous honors, including the Disney Teacherrific Winner in 1996 while teaching at Gateway High School. She was very devoted to her students by encouraging them to work hard and to pursue their dreams. As an educator, she cared very much about her student’s success and future endeavors. Sarah Jane was also actively involved in the school drama department. She was the one who organized drama events, conducted endless hours of rehearsals and then was there to inspire her students until the final curtain call. She was a cheerleader for her drama students at every stage of their production. She got more delight from their successes than from her own. Sarah Jane was a diligent worker and a resolute educator. She was a champion for the next generation of learners and educators. She was caring and a wonderful friend to many who loved her. She was also a pet lover and an advocate for animal rights and organizations. The family is extremely grateful for all their wonderful memories and truly believe that God’s blessings were most apparent when Sarah Jane was part of their lives. She was an angel here on Earth and now has that same role as she is now with her Lord and savior. Friends will be received at Good Samaritan Community Church on Thursday, March 17th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. A memorial service will then follow.
